installing a 3 1/2-inch hard disk drive in a 5 1/4-inch
device slot
replacing the internal hard disk drive.
Removing the Minitower Front Panel
Remove the front panel before installing a device in one of
the 5 1/4-inch accessible device slots. The front panel does
not need to be removed if you are installing an internal
3 1/2-inch hard disk drive. If you are going to install an
external 5 1/4-inch device, you also need to remove the
blank panel that covers the slot on the front panel.
To remove the front panel, proceed as follows.
1.
Remove the system unit cover (see “Removing the
System Unit Cover”).
2.
Squeeze the locking tab on the lower right corner on the
back of the front panel (see the following figure).
3.
Remove the front panel by releasing the locking tab and
five pop-in tabs from the back of the front panel (see the
following figure).
NOTE
The minitower front panel has one locking tab
on the bottom left that must be squeezed before the
panel can be removed. The five pop-in tabs insert
into the holes in the minitower chassis.
