Moving System Board Jumpers

CAUTION
Before doing the procedures in this section, make sure that
your system is powered off and unplug the AC power cords
from the back of the chassis. Failure to disconnect power
before moving the jumpers can result in personal injury and
equipment damage.
Observe static precautions. Use an antistatic wrist strap.
Clearing CMOS
Clear CMOS as follows.
1.
Shut down the OS.
2.
Press the POWER switch to turn off the power of the server. (The
POWER/SLEEP lamp goes off.)
3.
Remove the side cover. Refer to Chapter 4 for information on removing the
side cover.
4.
Remove the system power cord from the back of the system.
5.
Locate the position of the CMOS jumper on the system board.
See Figure 3-1. To change a jumper setting, use a pair of needle-nose pliers
or your fingers to remove the jumper from its current location. Position the
jumper over the two pins shown at Figure 3-1, A and press it onto the pins.
Be careful not to bend the pins. Also refer to Table 3-3 for system board
jumper setting descriptions.
6.
Connect the power cord, power on the system and after POST completes,
power down the system and unplug the power cord.
7.
Remove the CMOS jumper to its original position.
8.
Replace the side cover, connect the power cord, and power on the system.
9.
Press
F2
at the prompt to run the BIOS Setup utility, and select “Get Default
Values” at the Exit menu.
