Adjusting Telescoping Steering
Column
Turn key to steering lock position 1
o r 2 (with the driver’s d o o r opened,
the telescoping steering colum n can
be operated with the key rem oved or
in steering lock position 0).
To lengthen or shorten the steering
column, actuate the sw itch (1).
Note:
The steering wheel position is stored
in memory with the seat and head res
traint position.
Arm R est (Front Seats)
The arm rest engages in 3 positions.
Position 1 = arm rest folded up.
Position 2 = fo r normally inclined
seat back.
Position 3 = fo r extrem ely inclined
seat back.
For dow nward adjustm ent of the arm
rest, depress release button (4).
Note:
To move the arm rest between posi
tions 1 and 2 it may be necessary to
overcom e a slight resistance.
Warning!
The arm rest does not suffice as a
child restraint system. In case of a
frontal collision a child can be cata
pulted forward over the locked arm
rest. Infants and small children
should be seated in a properly
secured restraint system that com
plies with Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standard 213.
Arm R est (Rear Bench Seat)
When pulling o u t the arm rest by its
strap, the seat belt buckles fo r the
outboard seats swing out autom ati
cally.
