Unfastening:
• Push in the red button (3) in the
belt buckle.
• The retractor should com pletely
rewind the belt and latch plate (1).
Operation:
The inertia reel stops the belt from
unwinding during sudden vehicle
s to p s or when quickly pulling on the
belt.
The em ergency tensioning retractor
tightens the seat belt upon severe
frontal im pacts w ithin the shaded area
shown on page 36.
The locking function of the reel may
be checked by quickly pulling o u t the
belt.
Lap belt fo r m iddle of rear seat:
Pull belt w ith latch plate (1) across the
lap, press latch plate into buckle (2)
until it clicks. The belt m ust not be
tw isted and m ust be tight.
To shorten the belt: W ith the latch
plate engaged, pull the loose end of
the belt.
To lengthen the belt: W ith the belt
unfastened, turn the latch plate so
that it is a little more than 90° to the
belt, then extend the belt. Fasten the
belt and shorten as stated above.
The disengage the belt, push red b u t
ton (3) in buckle.
If the ce n te r seat is not occupied, the
belt buckle and rolled-up seat belt
can be stored in the space next to the
rear arm rest (to the left or right of
arm rest).
