Clearing Media Jams
When the printer detects a media feed problem, it will stop automatically.
Depending on where the media stops; the message “PAPERPATH_PAPERJAM” or
“PAPERPATH_FEED_TIMEOUT” will be displayed in the Toolbox.
Once the jam has been removed from the system and the Clamshell is closed; reload media into printer then
press the PAUSE/RESUME button, on the control panel or the Toolbox, to continue printing.
Some possible causes for jamming are:
1.
Damaged media, such as dog-eared (turned down corners), curled/bowed media or label releasing
from liner.
2.
Media that is too thick for the printer.
3.
Media that is too wide for the printer or media that skews as it travels through the printer.
4.
Trying to retract a long length of media. Although the printer is normally capable of retracting
media without issues; depending on the type of media, it may have problems retracting a long
length of media. If the media skews as it retracts this may cause binding/slipping of stock.
5.
Dusty/dirty Paperpath Entry or Exit sensors.
Removing Jammed Media
Clearing a jam depends on where the jam occurred.
Under the Brush Assembly:
Unlock and swing open the
Brush Assembly [A] to access jammed material. Clear the
jam, and then carefully lower and latch the Brush Assembly.
From the Print Engine Area:
Open the
Top Cover. Lift up on the two latches (
one
on each side of the print engine assembly
)
and raise (swing open) the Clamshell [C].
Clear the jam, then carefully lower and re-
latch the Clamshell. Then close the Top
Cover.
CAUTION
HOLD ONTO BOTH LATCHES WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING
THE PRINT ENGINE CLAMSHELL TO PREVENT DAMAGE.
DO NOT ALLOW THE CLAMSHELL DROP OR SLAM CLOSED.
