Cleaning the Printhead Cartridge
The Printhead Cartridge is cleaned automatically; each time the print engine is powered ON/OFF, at the
beginning and end of a print job, periodically during the print job, whenever there is an interruption in
printing and when a “Clean Printhead” routine is performed by the operator.
From the MC Series Driver:
Three “Clean Printhead” levels can be found under the
Service Tab, in the MC Series Driver properties.
Each step in the “clean printhead” levels activates a
more thorough cleaning or clearing of the printhead;
which also takes additional time to perform.
See “Printer Driver Properties” for more details.
From the Toolbox:
MAINTENANCE buttons [A]:
Circulate Ink
– Purges air from the lines and
primes the system after replacing the Ink Tanks
or Printhead Cartridge.
Caution!
Don’t run the “Circulate Ink”
feature more than two times in a row. Doing
so can build-up too much pressure in the
system which may cause excessive ink waste
and ink spills to occur.
Quick Clean Printhead
– Circulates ink, wipes
and cleans the Printhead Cartridge.
Normal Clean Printhead
– Runs cleaning and
wiping routine twice for better flushing and
cleaning.
Full Clean Printhead
– Runs the cleaning
routine multiple times for the most thorough
flushing and cleaning of the Printhead.
Wiper Preemptive Maintenance
– If the printer has been sitting for a long period of time and you are
experiencing poor head cleaning results; this feature can be used to re-saturate the Wiper Roller with ink
to remove dried residue and improve performance.
NOTE
: By default the printer will automatically
perform “Wiper Preemptive Maintenance” after 72 hours of idle-time. Your support representative can
set this value, in the Service Menus under Printer Control Config, from zero (off) to 255 hours.
Wipe Printhead
– Activates the Service Station to wipe the Printhead. No ink is sprayed.
A trained operator or technician can also use this feature to inspect the condition of the wiper roller. See
the Section titled “Inspecting the Wiper Roller” for more details.
