Universal Device Select (U)
WARNING:
Do not
use Universal Select
when more than one
counter is powered on
and connected to the
same RS485 Bus.
If the user has a single counter on the communications line and they are
not sure of the address, first send a
U
command. The counter will
respond to all commands given after the
U
command, regardless of its
programmed Location/Address.
The
U
command provides a quick and easy way to check the
configuration parameters of a single device. After determining the
Location/Address of a device, it can be accessed later on a chain by
using the Device Select command sequence.
If more than one counter is chained together on a single Serial Port, the
use of the
U
command will cause communication problems because all
counters will respond at the same time.
The
U
command is turned off by sending any Device Select address as
described above.
