RS485 OUT Port
The RS485 OUT port uses only 2 lines for RS485 communications. See
Table 4-6.
RS232 Communications
Note:
Refer to “RS485
Adapter Cable” on page 3-
4 before setting up RS232
communications with the
RLPC.
The instrument can use RS232 communications in a point-to-point
configuration. Refer to “RS485 Adapter Cable” on page 3-4.
To connect the instrument to a computer using RS232 Protocol:
1. Remove power from the instrument.
2. Connect one end of a standard Cat5 cable to the RS232/485 IN port
on the instrument.
3. Attach the other end of the Cat5 cable to the DB-9 adapter. Attach
the DB-9 adapter to any available COM (Serial) Port on a
computer.
4. Set DIP Switch 8 to OFF (DOWN) for MODBUS or MR protocol
with software addressing or to ON (UP) for ASCII mode. Refer to
Table 4-2 on page 4-2.
