12 What to do, if …
Please note that after disinfection, the optical surfaces must
be rinsed thoroughly with fresh drinking water, followed by
fresh demineralized water. The products must be dried
thoroughly before the subsequent sterilization.
12.1 Malfunctions on the Leica M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope

Leica M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope can
either not be moved, or only with great
physical effort.
A cable is sticking.
Reroute affected cable.
Functions cannot be activated using the
footswitch or the controls on the handles.
A cable connection has come loose.
Check the power cable.
Check the footswitch connection.
Incorrect assignment entered at control unit. Change the assignment using the control
unit.
Zoom cannot be adjusted electrically.
Zoom motor failed.
Press the zoom button.
Adjust the zoom manually (see chapter 8.9).
Too little light or none at all in the Leica
M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope.
Lamp defective.
Switch to the other illuminator.
Fiber-optic light guide damaged.
Check fiber-optic light guide and replace if
necessary.
The lamp was not installed correctly.
Check that the lamp is seated properly.
Lamp body must rest entirely on the lamp
mount (see page 49).
Image gets fuzzy when magnification is
changed.
Parfocality not exactly adjusted.
Adjust the individual diopter values of the
operating surgeon (see page 33).
The image goes out of focus.
Eyepieces not seated properly.
Screw the eyepieces all the way on.
Diopters not set correctly.
Perform dioptric correction exactly according
to the instructions (see chapter 8.4).
The image appears shaded through the Leica
M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope at the
edges and the illumination field is outside
the field of vision.
Accessories not installed accurately.
Correctly attach the accessories in the holders
(see chapter 7.3).
