Leica M525 F20/CT20 / Ref. 10 715 156 / Version 01
8.4 Determining diopter settings for
users
The individual diopters can be regulated continuously from +5 to –5.
The surgical microscope ensures a high degree of fatigue resistance
if the diopter setting is correct for both eyes.
Preparations
X
X
Open any double-iris diaphragm used.
X
X
Turn both eyepieces to <0>.
Bringing test object image into sharp focus
X
X
Select the highest magnification, 12.8.
X
X
Place a flat test object with sharp contours under the objective
at working distance.
X
X
Move the Leica M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope toward the
test object via the camera or graticule until it appears in sharp
focus.
Adjusting the diopter settings
X
X
Select the lowest magnification (magnification 1.2).
X
X
Without looking into the eyepieces, turn both eyelenses to +5.
X
X
Slowly turn the eyelenses toward –5 individually for each eye
until the test object appears in sharp focus.
Checking the setting
X
X
Select the highest magnification (magnification 12.8).
X
X
Check image sharpness and adjust if necessary.
8.5 Setting up eyepieces
Setting diopter values for users
Adjust the diopter settings accurately for each eye separately; only
this method will ensure that the image will stay in focus
throughout the entire zoom range (parfocal).
X
X
Read the diopter values of the operating surgeon at the control
unit (see page 35).
X
X
Set diopter values at each eyepiece individually with the setting
ring (2).
Setting eyebase and interpupillary distance
X
X
Set the interpupillary distance with setting wheel (3).
X
X
Set interpupillary distance with rotating ring (1).
8.6 Attaching the protective glass to
the objective
X
X
Place the gas-sterilizable protective glass on the objective so
that the markings on the Leica M525 F20/CT20 surgical
microscope (4) and on the protective glass (5) are aligned.
X
X
Insert the protective glass upwards into the bayonet lock in
direction (a).
X
X
Turn the protective glass in direction (b) until it engages.
