8.7 Attaching sterile controls
Sterilizable covers can be fitted on the rotary knobs on the Leica
M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope.
Covers for rotary knobs
Also attach the covers if you are using sterile disposable
drapes; the controls will be easier to grasp.

Slide steam-sterilizable covers (1) over the adjusting knob for
the field diameter and the adjusting knob for the working
distance.

Attach steam-sterilizable covers to accessories as well (if
present).
Cover for footswitch
WARNING
Risk of infection!

Leave sufficient space around the stand to ensure that
the sterile drape does not come into contact with non-
sterile components.
Packaging the footswitch in a plastic bag protects it against
dirt.
Sterile drape for stand
General notes:
• If the entire system is draped with a sterile wrap all the way to
the floor, a controlled shutoff of the illumination must be
expected due to overheating.
• Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the
sterile drape.

Switch on main illuminator.

Release the brakes and extend the swing arm.

Put on sterile gloves.

Attach all the sterile controls.

Unpack the sterile drape carefully and drape it over the Leica
M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope as far as the swing arm.
Make sure that the ventilation openings (2) are not covered.

Secure protective glass at objective.

Do not attach the sterile drape too tightly with the provided
ribbons. It must still be easy to move the instrument.

Check the ease of movement of the instrument.

X
Carefully fasten the sterile drape by the handles.
