5.3.5.4.2 Left/Right Deviation Indicator
The left/right deviation indicator displays the difference between the Selected Course and the VOR
Omnibearing, the TO annunciation reflects a deviation of less than or equal to 90 degrees, whereas FR
annunciates deviations of greater than 90 degrees.
When in VOR mode a positive course deviation causes a right indicator movement. A negative course
deviation causes a left indicator movement. The left / right deviation indicator reaches the 100% mark at
10
°
course deviation. The resolution for one needle width of movement is a maximum of 1 degree.
5.3.5.4.3 Selected Course
The Selected Course is entered through the main menu.
5.3.5.4.4 To/From Ambiguity Indicator
When in VOR Mode and the Selected Course is displaced by more than
±
90°
±
0.1
°
from the current
VOR Omnibearing, the appropriate “From” indication is shown. When the Selected Course is displaced
by less than or equal to,
±
90°
±
0.1
°
from the current VOR Omnibearing, the appropriate “To” indication
is shown.
5.3.5.4.5 Selected Course Auto-Center
When invoked through the main menu the Course Auto-Center function changes the Selected Course to
the present VOR omnibearing.
5.3.5.4.6 VOR Data Type
NAV receivers transmit VOR data representing either ‘bearing to (omnibearing)’ or ‘radial from’ the
station. The unit is configurable for the two types of VOR data.
5.3.5.5 DME Display Data
When in VOR Mode or ILS Mode, the indicator displays DME data as defined by configuration. The
DME data consists of DME Slant Range Distance in Nautical Miles (NM), a DME Hold annunciator if
required and optionally, as enabled through the main menu, Ground Speed in Knots (KTS) and Time-To-
Station in Minutes (MIN).
5.3.5.5.1 DME Hold Annunciation
When DME data is shown the indicator displays DME Hold annunciator when a DME Hold condition is
detected.
5.3.5.5.2 DME Data Resolution
When DME data is shown, the distance is shown in nautical miles with a resolution of 0.1 NM for
distances under 100 NM, and a resolution of 1 NM for distances of 100 NM and greater. The resolution of
shown DME Ground speed is 1 knot. The resolution of shown DME Time-To-Go is 1 minute.
5.3.5.6 FMS Display
Data
When FMS data is shown, as selected through the main menu, the indicator enters FMS Mode. When in FMS
Mode the indicator displays, as received through the current ARINC input bus, an FMS descriptor, a TO /
FROM annunciator and optionally a left / right deviation indicator, up / down deviation indicator, discrete
annunciators, Distance To Waypoint data and descriptor, Desired Track (DTK) data and descriptor, Selected
Course (CRS) data and descriptor and Bearing To Waypoint (BRG) data and descriptor.
