3.2.2 Magnetometer Check
The following only applies to installations using a MAG-3000 (or MAG-3100). References to the JT-
147A Calibration Test Box are in bold text (refer to equipment required not supplied in the General
Information section).
3.2.2.1 Calibration Conditions and Test Requirements

The Magnetometer aircraft calibration procedures must be performed on the ground with the aid of a
compass rose.
2.
Magnetometer aircraft calibration must be performed in a similar ambient magnetic field on the
ground as will exist when the aircraft is in-flight i.e. aircraft engine(s) should be running and all
avionics equipment should be powered.
NOTE
Avoid being in the proximity of objects that may alter the magnetic field
around the Magnetometer (e.g. rebar in concrete, metal buildings, etc).

Unless otherwise specified, all references to “switches” and switch “buttons” used within these
procedures are those of the JT-147A Calibration Test Box.
3.2.2.2 Calibration Procedures
3.2.2.2.1 Attitude Compensation
Attitude compensation does not affect the GH-3100 computed pitch display. Attitude differences between
the GH-3100 and MAG-3000 (or MAG-3100) are automatically compensated by the utilization of the
MAT-3000A (or MAT-3100) Transmitter Assembly (refer to JT-147A) during steps

1.
Remove input power from the GH-3100 Instrument System.
2.
Connect the JT-147A Calibration Test Set as follows:
CAUTION
The DCM-3100 is electrostatic sensitive device when not connected to
the GH-3100 Indicator.
a.
Remove aircraft connector P1 from GH-3100 connector J1.
b.
Remove DCM-3100 from GH-3100 connector J2.
c.
Attach Test Box Cable (570-8552-10) connector P1
to Adapter Cable (570-8984-01) connector P1.
d.
Attach P2 Adapter Cable (570-8984-01) to GH-3100 connector J1.
e.
Attach Test Box Cable connector P2 to GH-3100 connector J2.
f.
Attach Test Box Cable connector J2 to DCM-3100.
g.
Attach Test Box Cable (570-8552-10) connector J1
to Adapter Cable (570-8984-02) connector P3.
h.
Attach Adapter Cable (570-8984-02) connector P4 to aircraft connector P1.
NOTE
It may be necessary to remove the GH-3100 Indicator from the instrument
panel if connections are not otherwise accessible.
