5.2.1.2 Push Button Key
The push button key located on the lower middle portion of the indicator. The button is identified as a
small rectangular button marked with a white capital “M” that illuminates for ease of locating.
Momentarily pressing the push button key activates the menu mode display.
5.2.1.3 Bezel Light Sensor Input
The light sensor is located in the lower left corner of the indicator. The sensor automatically adjusts the
brightness of the display to cockpit lighting levels. The menu selection provides an offset command to
manually change the display brightness.
5.2.1.3.1 Display Brightness Control
The bezel light sensor and the display’s brightness levels are calibrated to a specified lighting curve.
Resulting in a display that self adjusts to an ideal brightness level for the current cockpit lighting
conditions.
5.2.1.3.2 Brightness Offset Control
The brightness offset control function is used to manually adjust the display brightness. The manual offset
control is limited in the following manner:
•
In relatively high lighting conditions, the brightness offset control will allow the display to be
adjusted for maximum brightness output, but not to minimum brightness output.
•
In relatively low lighting conditions, the brightness offset control will allow the display to be
adjusted for minimum brightness output, but not to maximum brightness output.
5.2.2 Menu Interface
The push-button key and the adjustment knob are used to view, select, and change alphanumeric menu
items shown on the screen. In the menu mode, a list of menu items is presented across the lower portion
of the screen. The characters of a highlighted menu item is white and is preceded by a white “>“symbol at
the beginning of the line.
5.2.2.1 Push Button Key
When the menu list is shown, momentarily pressing the “M” key terminates the menu mode. When a sub-
menu is shown, momentarily pressing the “M” key returns the menu mode to the previous menu list.
After between 15 to 20 seconds with no menu mode activity, the menu mode is terminated automatically.
5.2.2.2 Adjustment Knob
The adjustment knob is used for scrolling the menus and initiating the highlighted function.
5.2.2.2.1 Highlighting
One item in the menu item list is highlighted. When the adjustment knob is rotated one detent clockwise,
the highlighting jumps down one line, and when the knob is rotated one detent counter-clockwise, the
highlighting jumps up one line. When the highlighting is at the topmost item and the knob is rotated
counter-clockwise, the bottom menu item of the list is highlighted. Likewise, when the highlighting is at
the bottom item and the knob is rotated clockwise, the topmost menu item of the list is highlighted.
