4.3 FAULT ISOLATION
Table 4-2 lists possible symptoms and corrective actions to assist the installer with fault isolation. In
addition, refer the L3 Aviation Products Troubleshooting Guide (publication number: TP-603) for
detailed troubleshooting instructions. For additional assistance call L3 Aviation Products, Customer
Service (800-453-0288 or 616-949-6600).

If one of the GH system components
do not power up check the following:
1. Verify Battery (BAT) Master switch is on.
2. Check power connections, breakers, and main avionics
switch.
3. Replacement of GH system component may be required.
Contact L3 Aviation Products Customer service before
removal.
Nothing displayed on indicator.

Check power connections, breakers, and main avionics
switch.

Processor Error Screens

1. No action required. Screen is displayed with little display
or information interruption.
2. Frequent error screens should be reported. Contact L3
Aviation Products Customer service before removal.

1. Check for magnetic interference around magnetometer.
2. GH-3100 system may require recalibration. Follow the
Post Installation checkout procedures in the Installation
Checkout section of this manual.
3. Replacement of one of the GH-3100 system components
may be required. Contact L3 Aviation Products Customer
service before removal.
If DG annunciated above heading

1. Check for correct input voltage to the magnetometer.
2. Check continuity between magnetometer and GH
indicator.
3. Check power connections, breakers, and main avionics
switch to the magnetometer.
4. Replacement of magnetometer may be required. Contact
L3 Aviation Products Customer service before removal.
Navigation information missing from
GH display.
1. Press Menu button on GH indicator and use knob to scroll
down to NAV ON, press knob to activate nav display.
2. Check for valid ARINC 429 data from navigation
computer.
3. Troubleshoot navigation system if ARINC 429 data is
invalid.
4. Contact L3 Aviation Products Customer service.
Momentary view of red X observed in
