Opticut maintenance

Never try to push crop into or pull crop out of a running machine. Se-
vere personal injuries can occur.

Wear safety gloves

Knives are very sharp. Always wear safety gloves when handling
knives. Not wearing safety gloves can cause serious injuries.

If the cutting system blocks
> Shut off the pto
> Stop the tractor engine
> Remove the ignition key
> Wait until all parts of the machine have come to stand still
> Now the blockage can be removed safely

Knife sharpening

Wear protective goggles

Always wear protective goggles when sharpening the knives. Flying
around sparks can cause serious injuries.

Sharpen the knives every 10 working hours at the smooth side. Never
sharpen the undulated side of the cutting edge because of excessive
wear.
The sharpness of the knives must be checked daily.

Proceed as follows:
> Remove the knife

Ensure the knife is not getting hot during sharpening, since that may
weaken the steel! It is better to grind more frequently than a lot at
once.
