ply the alarm system with power for about one
hour of continuous use.
The level is determined by two dynamic pres
-
sure circuits fitted with pressure switches, each
with 10 m air hose plus a pressure sensor in the
collecting chamber.
The first dynamic pressure system switches the
pump on and off (cut-off with shut-off delay).
The second system reports unacceptably high
wastewater levels. In single units, the emer
-
gency switch-on is activated. In duplex units,
the standby pump is switched on. After the
water level has dropped by about 50 mm, the
high-water alarm and the standby pump are
switched off again.
If the shut-off delay has been set correctly, the
pump continues to operate until the pressure
sensor has surfaced completely and is switched
off before it can draw air. An integrated dry-
running protection float switch (TLS) causes
the pump to be shut-down safely even in the
event of a failure.
For duplex pump units the power-up sequence
of pump 1 and pump 2 alternates automati
-
cally after every base-load pumping process.
The resting pump is switched on in the event of
high water or a pump fault.
Duplex units can be operated optionally with
-
out peak-load function (no parallel pump op
-
eration), but with automatic switch-over to the
standby pump in the event of a fault.
(Only AD/AS ...)After a power cut the pumps
are switched on with a time delay. The micro-
switch on the printed circuit board must be
set to ON to enable this. This automatic safety
feature is to prevent all pumping stations from
starting up at the same time, resulting in large
current peaks.
EMC
Provided that our standard submersible pumps
and accessories are used, and these are in
-
stalled as specified and put to the use for which
they were intended, our control units meet the
protective requirements of the EMC Directive
2004/108/EU, and is suitable for use in domes
-
tic and commercial areas of the public power
supply network. When connected to an indus
-
trial mains supply in an industrial plant with the
power supply provided by a company-owned
high-voltage transformer, it is to be expected
that there will be insufficient immunity to in
-
terference.
Operation
ATTENTION!
Operate the control in dry rooms
only and keep the housing closed at all times.
Automatic operation
Automatic operation is the normal operating
mode of the unit. The Manual-0-Automatic se
-
lector switches for the pump must be set to the
"Automatic" position for this operating mode.
Depending on the wastewater level in the col
-
lecting chamber, the pumps are switched on
automatically and are switched off again de
-
pending on level and time. The green indicator
"Betrieb Pumpe" (Pump operation) is lit during
pump operation.
Manual operation
In case of a malfunction in automatic opera
-
tion, the collecting chamber can be drained
manually as well. For this action, set the selec
-
tor switch to the "HAnd" (Manual) position. The
pump will now operate continuously and inde
-
pendently of the wastewater level.
In accordance with the explosion
protection laws and regulations, ex
-
plosion-protected pumps should
never be allowed to run dry or to operate in
“snore” mode. The pump must switch off when
the water level sinks to the upper edge of the
pump housing, at the very latest. Dry running
for servicing or inspection purposes may only
take place outside the potentially explosive
area.
Shutting down the pump
Set the rocker switch to "0". The pump is shut
down. In duplex units the remaining pump
continues to work in automatic operation.
Faults
Before carrying out any work: Dis
-
connect the pump(s) and the control
unit from the mains by unscrewing
and removing the pre-fuses and take action to
ensure that no one else can reconnect them to
the power supply.
Repairs and maintenance work on
the control unit must be carried out
by a qualified electrician only!
Pump isn't working
Please check the pre-fuses in the distribution
unit when the pumps do not operate in auto
-
matic or manual operation and do not indicate
a failure. Replace defective fuses only with
fuses with the same nominal value! Notify our
Customer Support Service in the event of re
-
peated triggering.
The acoustic alarm signal
can be acknowl
-
edged with the green "Reset" button on the
housing.
Indicator "Drehfeld falsch"
(
Wrong rotating
field)
Not applicable for alternating current pumps.
Mains phase sequence is wrong or phase is ab
-
sent. This results in little or no pump delivery.
Indicator "Laufzeit überschritten" (max.
permissible run-time exceeded)
The maximum permissible run-time of the
pump has been exceeded in continuous opera
-
tion (please refer to "Adjustment of the shut-off
delay"). Press the green "Reset" button on the
housing to switch the pump on again. If a high-
water signal occurs in the meantime, the pump
is switched on again automatically.
Indicator "Störung Pumpe" (pump fault)
Motor protection switch has been triggered:
• Failure of the electric motor - winding
failure
• Phase error - two phases (pre-fuse defective?)
• Overload - tight or blocked impeller
• Fault triggered - wrongly set or defective
motor protection
In duplex control units the system may also
have been switched off by the temperature
limiter. Pump has overheated because the
pumped fluid is hotter than 35° Celsius or the
pump has operated after surfacing. After fail
-
ure recovery, press the green "Reset" button to
switch the pump on again. In case of frequent
failures, it is imperative that our Customer Sup
-
port Service is called.
Indicator lamp for "Übertemperatur" (over-
heating)
(Only AD ...).
Indicator "Wassermangel" (lack of water)
(Only with TLS dry running protection). Water
level in the collecting chamber is too low be
-
cause shut-off delay setting is wrong (too long),
pump was operated in manual mode for too
long or chamber has dried up as inflow is ab
-
sent, for example.
Indicator "Hochwasser" (high-water alarm)
Water level in the collecting chamber is too
high due to insufficient pump delivery or ex
-
cessive inflow.
ATTENTION!
If, after the unit has not been
used for a long time (several weeks), the pump
does not then switch on automatically, the col
-
lecting chamber must be drained once manu
-
ally. For this purpose, set the mode selector
switch to the "Hand" (Manual) position and
return to the "Automatic" position again before
the pump draws in air.
Installation
Repairs and maintenance work on the
control unit or the pump must be car
-
ried out by a qualified electrician only!
