5. Measure the resistance between terminals (2 and 3).
Is the resistance value within 4.55 ohms ± 10% at
68° F?
YES Proceed to step 6
NO The throttle actuator is faulty; replace the
throttle actuator.
6. Manually retract and extend the actuator shaft,
checking for smooth operation throughout the entire
range of motion. If the actuator shaft sticks or binds,
replace the actuator.
7. Connect the throttle actuator wire connector (1).
Cycle the key switch while observing actuator
movement. Verify full stroke of the actuator. Replace
actuator as necessary.
Traction Pedal Adjustment
See Figure 4-97.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)

2. Set the digital multimeter to read DC voltage.
3. Connect pedal adjustment harness (6) to main
harness and traction pedal connector (5).
4. Turn ignition switch to the RUN position. Do not start
mower.
5. Press traction pedal for full forward movement.
6. Measure the voltage between the orange and black
wires on test connector (6). Voltage value must be
within 4.3–4.4 volts.
NOTE
If test connector (6) is not used, measure directly at
orange and black wires in traction pedal connector, pins 2
and 3.
7. If the voltage value is within specification, no
adjustment is necessary. If voltage is below 4.3 volts,
proceed to step 8. If voltage is above 4.4 volts,
proceed to step 11.
8. Loosen jam nut (1) and turn stop screw (2) clockwise
until voltage value is within 4.3–4.4 volts.
9. Tighten jam nut.
10. Proceed to step 13.
11. Loosen jam nut (1) and turn stop screw (2)
counterclockwise until voltage value is within 4.3–4.4
volts.
12. Tighten jam nut.
13. Press traction pedal for full reverse movement.
14. Repeat steps 6 through 12, adjusting stop screw (3).
15. Remove test connector (6).
