38. Remove screw (51), lock washer (52), and flat
washer (53).
39. Repeat step 38 for other side of machine, and
remove crossmember (50).

44. Tag and disconnect hose (62) from radiator overflow
bottle (63). Cap fitting and plug hose to prevent
leakage and contamination.
45. Remove nuts (58), lock washers (59), flat washers
(60), screws (61), and radiator overflow bottle (64).
WARNING
46. Using an engine hoist, support the genset (63) and
remove nuts (54), lock washers (55), flat washers
(56), and genset carrier mounting screws (57).
47. Remove the resistor bank assembly and jumper
harness. (See “Resistor Bank Assembly and Jumper
Harness” on page 4-146.)
48. Repeat step 46 for other side of machine.
49. Check for any connected wires and components and
carefully remove the genset from the machine.
50. Place the genset on a suitable stand or workbench
that will support the full weight in a safe manner while
preventing damage to the genset.
NOTE
If the engine is being replaced, some components must
be removed and installed on the new engine. See the
“Parts and Maintenance Manual” for additional
information and illustrations.
Installation Notes

• Inspect engine mounts and replace if necessary.
• Install the genset by reversing the order of removal.
• If necessary, remove components from the engine
and install the components on the new engine.
• Apply Loctite
®
242 (Blue) to eight carrier mounting
screws (57) prior to installation.
• Tighten genset carrier mounting screws (57) to 65.0
lb-ft (88 N·m).
• Use new gaskets when installing the exhaust system.
• Use new cable ties to secure wire connectors and
wire harnesses.
• Apply dielectric grease (Jacobsen PN 365422) to any
connectors removed.
• Fill the radiator with a 50/50 mixture of ethylene
glycol-base antifreeze and clean, fresh water.
• Replace the engine oil filter and fill engine with oil.
• Purge air from the fuel system. (See “Purging the
Fuel System (Diesel)” on page 3-10.)
