Steering Tower
Removal and Installation
See Figures 7-29 and 7-30.

WARNING
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Remove front cover. (See “Front Cover” on
page 7-16.)
3. Remove rear cover. (See “Rear Cover” on
page 7-16.)
4. Remove work light assembly. (See “Work Light
Assembly” on page 7-4.)
5. Remove RCU. (See “RCU” on page 4-143.)
6. Remove steering wheel input device. (See “Steering
Wheel Input Device” on page 4-145.)

NOTE
Steps 7 through 11 are for the Eclipse 322 Model 62803
(Gas) only. For the Eclipse 322 Model 62805 (Diesel) and
Eclipse 322 Model 62801 (Electric), proceed to step 12.
7. Hold nut (5) and remove knob (4).
8. Remove nut (5).
9. Remove two nuts (2) and lock washer (6).
10. Disengage choke cable (3) from steering tower (7).
11. Remove grommet (1).

12. Disengage gas spring cable (25) from bracket (24).
13. Remove nut (18), lock washer (19), spacer (20), and
screw (21).
14. Remove gas spring (8).
15. Remove two screws (9) and tilt lever assembly (10).
16. Remove two nuts (12), lock washers (13), flat
washers (14), screws (15), and RCU mounting
bracket (11).
17. Remove four screws (22) and lock washers (23).
18. Remove steering tower (17).
Installation Notes
• Install steering tower by reversing the order of
removal.
• Tighten mounting screws (22) to 55–60 lb-ft (75–81
N·m).
• Verify that steering tilt lock assembly fully engages
and disengages. Adjust nut (16) if necessary.
Be sure that the key switch is off, all electrical
accessories are turned off, and the 12-volt and
48-volt power connectors are disconnected
before starting work on machine.
