Start Circuit
Starter motor solenoid does not engage.
Charging Circuit
Battery not charging.
Battery light stays on.
Probable Cause Remedy
48 volt battery low. Charge battery.
Mow switch is in the mow position. Place the mow switch in the off position.
Faulty start relay output. Turn the key switch to the start position; check the main control unit (MCU) start relay
output LED. If the LED does not come on, substitute the MCU with a known good
MCU.
Faulty wiring. Check wiring between starter solenoid and PDU.
Faulty start relay in PDU. Substitute the PDU with a known good PDU. If system now works, re-install old
component to verify fault returns.
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty output circuit. Make sure alternator output cable and battery positive (+) cable terminals are clean and
tight.
Check stator output reads approx. 28VAC with engine running. Verify voltage regulator is
working (no higher than 14VDC output to battery).
Check continuity between starter battery terminal and battery positive (+) terminal.
Continuity must be indicated.
Faulty battery ground circuit. Make sure battery negative (–) cable terminals are clean and tight.
Check continuity between battery negative (–) terminal and ground. Continuity must be
indicated.
Faulty battery. Check specific gravity of the individual battery cells.
Probable Cause Remedy
Correct MCU Program Select LED not on. Gas hybrid - Program Select LED 1 should be ON. Diesel hybrid - Program Select LED 2
should be ON
Missing excitation voltage (diesel model). With the key switch in the run position, measure voltage between alternator ignition
terminal. Voltage must be approximately 12 VDC.
Faulty alternator (diesel model). With the engine running, measure voltage between 12 volt battery terminals. Voltage
must be approximately 14 VDC. If the voltage is below 12 volts, replace the alternator.
Faulty stator (gasoline model). Check stator output
Faulty regulator (gasoline model). Check voltage regulator.
Faulty battery. Check specific gravity of the individual battery cells.
