DRAM modules:
If you wish to change the pre-installed DRAM module,
you can find DRAM module replacement procedures in

CBM:
If you wish to install Cache Backup Module (Battery Backup Unit
and/or Flash Backup Module), the CBM should be installed prior to
powering on the system. See
Cache Backup Module (CBM) of RAID
to find out which model contains CBM by default.
Adjuster Pillars:
Designed to prevent the rear end of S48 enclosures
protruding out the back of the rack-mount cabinet. Depending on where
the rack posts are secured, you may or may not need to install the
adjuster pillars.
Rackmount installation:
A set of slide rails are included and they are
designed to support the full weight of the system enclosure when
installed in a rack or cabinet.
Make sure you are aware of the related positions of each plug-in module and
interface connector.
Cables must be handled with care and must not be bent. To prevent emission
interference within a rack system and accidental cable disconnection, the routing
paths must be carefully planned.
2.2
Installation Procedures Overview
Following all the instructions provided below can minimize system installation time.
Detailed, illustrated instructions for each component are given in the following
sections.
1.
Unpack:
Unpack the system and confirm that all the components on the
unpacking list are included.
2.
Determine if adjuster pillars are needed
depending on the location of your rack
posts.
3.
Install into rack/ cabinet:
If the system is going to be installed in a rack or
cabinet, it should be installed prior to installing the hard drives. Installing the
system into a rack or cabinet requires at least two people due to its weight.
4.
Install hard drive brackets:
48 sets of hard drive brackets are included in the
accessory box when you purchase S48 series systems. If you purchased hard
