Preparatory Tasks and Assumptions
The instructions in this book assume:
You are installing the expansion unit in a 19-inch wide, rack.
The rack might also contain:
– Industry standard EIA railing inside the rack for mounting
the hardware
– One or two independent power sources (distribution boxes,
uninterruptible power supply, and so on)
– A host controller unit
– Additional expansion units
You have already installed the other components in the rack,
and moved the rack near its permanent operating location.
You have already installed and configured the host controllers
and appropriate host adapters.
There are 68-pin SCSI cables attached to the host controllers and
are ready for final connection to the expansion unit.
The rack and installation site meet all area, environmental,
power, and site requirements for the expansion unit. Refer to
the expansion unit requirements listed in Chapter 3, “Rack
Installation” on page 23.
