17.1 How to Plug and Unplug an Optical Fiber

Question

How to plug and unplug an optical fiber?

Answer

To plug an optical fiber, perform the following steps:
1.

Install an optical transceiver.

Remove the protective cap from the optical transceiver, as shown in step 1 of

Figure 17-1

Insert the optical transceiver into the Fibre Channel port, as shown in step 2 of

Figure 17-1

Installing an optical transceiver

Plug an optical fiber.

Remove protective caps on the optical fiber connector, as shown in step 1 of

Figure 17-2

Attach the optical fiber to the Fibre Channel port, as shown in step 2 of

Figure

17-2

Insert the optical fiber until it snaps into place.

While pressing the anti-loosing buckle on the optical fiber connector, pull out the fiber
