Equipment and Revision Requirements
This procedure requires access to service areas in both HPMM controllers..
ESD HAZARD
ESD precautions, particularly the use of wrist straps, are required to avoid
loss of control and/or equipment damage
The Alternate Private Path will be functional only if the following two hardware requirements are met.

Both HPM COMM/Control cards must be at hardware revision G, or a later revision.

The Redundancy cable used for the alternate connection must be Honeywell part number
51201667-100 or –200 at revision B, or later revision.
The Alternate Private Path is operational with any present R500 software release. A future software
release will indicate a soft failure to confirm that the alternate path is connected.
HPPM Redundancy Restoration Procedure
CAUTION This procedure requires access to the Debug ports on both HPM Comm/Control cards.
These are service areas, and precautions against ESD damage must be observed. “ESD
Guidelines for HPMM and IOP Cards
” subsection (“Removal and Replacement” section)
describes the use of an ESD wriststrap and provides detailed instructions for the removal
and replacement of HPM components. Failure to observe these precautions can result in
loss of control and/or damage to HPM hardware.
If the inability to resynchronize the HPMM controllers is caused by damaged interface drivers or
receivers in the primary HPMM controller, and if there are no other hardware failures, the procedure in
the following table will restore redundancy operation. The order of these steps is critical. If any step fails,
do
NOT proceed any farther.
Step Action

Verify that the hardware revision of both HPM Comm/Control cards is revision G or a
later revision and that a redundancy cable at revision B or a later revision is available
for the Alternate Private Path connections. The revision of the board is not normally
visible with the card installed, but can be verified on the Manufacturing Information
display at a Universal Station (US), Universal StationX (UXS), or Global User Station
(GUS).

Place the secondary HPMM in the Alive state. It must NOT be loaded before
connecting the Alternate Private Path.

Slip on an ESD wriststrap and connect it the cabinet’s AC Safety Ground bus that is
shown in Figure 199. The wriststrap is required up to and including Step 15 in this
procedure.

Open the Debug Panel doors at the front of both HPM Comm/Control cards. The doors
are located just below the Power and Status LEDs and are opened by pulling the top
edge of the door toward you. The door will drop down and reveal the 25-pin Debug
connector.

If there are protective boots on the Debug connectors, remove and save them.
