2.10 Electrical System
Overview
The SK2000 water blasting system is mounted to
the truck chassis and powered by an onboard aux-
iliary diesel engine and a hydraulic pump driven
by the truck PTO. A 12 volt DC electrical system
and onboard battery provides electrical power for
starting the auxiliary engine and for the switches,
solenoids and other electrical components in the
water blasting system. An alternator on the en-
gine recharges the battery whenever the engine
is operating. The skid electrical system is totally
isolated from the truck electrical system.
The skid is equipped with a main circuit breaker
near the battery that protects the electrical system
and can function as the main disconnect switch
to deactivate the water blasting electrical system.
Other in-line fuses and fuses in the main electrical
panel protect individual circuits for water blast-
ing components activated by the switches in the
control panel.
The auxiliary engine is equipped with onboard
circuit breakers and/or fuses that protect the
controller, ECM, charging circuit and other engine
electrical components. Refer to the auxiliary en-
gine operation manual for more information on
the engine and electrical system.
50 Amp Main Circuit Breaker
The water blasting electrical system is powered
and protected by a heavy duty circuit breaker lo-
cated on the engine cowling near the battery. The
50 amp breaker is connected directly to battery
and supplies electrical power directly to the fuse
panel located in the main electrical panel on the
passenger side of the skid. The breaker must be
ON to power the water blasting electrical system.
The main circuit breaker is equipped with a yellow
indicator/reset lever that indicates the status of
the breaker (ON or OFF/TRIPPED) and is used to
reset the breaker if it trips or to turn the breaker
and electrical system OFF.
This is a heavy duty circuit breaker that typically
trips only when there is a fault in the system. If
it trips, you should find and correct the problem
before resetting the breaker. The breaker is reset
by moving the yellow lever to the ON position.
