General Description and Operation
The p o w e r a n t e n n a a u t o m a t i c a l l y raises t he a n t e n n a
mast t o its full hei ght wh e n e v e r the r adio and ignit i on are
t ur n e d o n . T h e a n t e n n a r e t r a ct s i nto t he f ender w h e n ei t her
the i gnit i on or radio is t u r n e d off.
T h e p o w e r a n t e n n a drive uni t is h o u s e d in a 2 piece
plastic h o u s i n g a t t a c h e d t o t he mas t and t u b e a s s e mbl y. A

a n t e n n a mas t up a n d d o w n wi t h a plastic cable a t t a c h e d to
t he t o p mas t s ect i on. No cl ut ch is used in this uni t . Up p e r
a n d l ower travel limi ts are c o n t r o l l e d b y s wi t ches o p e n e d by
a r m a t u r e shaft t h r u s t as the mas t r eaches t he e n d o f its
travel. A circuit br e a k e r is used t o p r o t e c t t he m o t o r
a r ma t u r e f r o m over heat i ng.

t y p e o f r adi o used in t he car:
1) AM- FM Ty p e
2) AM- FM- CB ( Tr i - Ba n d ) T y p e
T h e AM- FM a n t e n n a e x t e n d s t o a m a x i m u m height o f

e x t e n d s t o a height o f 9 1 4 m m ( 3 6 ” ). T h e t r i - band a n t e n n a
has a load coil m o u n t e d on t he c en t er mas t sect i on t o t u n e it
t o t he CB r adio b a n d a n d a st ub a n t e n n a lead t ap e d to t he
s u p p o r t t u b e . The st ub m a t c h e s t he a n t e n n a to t he FM b a n d
a nd s houl d n o t be r e mo v e d e x c e p t for r e p l a c e m e n t .
On Car Service
T h e r e is no on car service o f t he AM- FM a n t e n n a o t h e r
t han cl eani ng o f t he mast s ecti ons. On t he Tr i - Ba nd a n t e n n a
t he load coil a n d tip are servicable in t he event o f d a ma g e or
loss. The l oad coil has an a d j u s t a b l e b a n d t o set SWR
( St a n d i n g Wave R a t i o ) for CB o p e r a t i o n . T h e SWR is preset
on c o mp l e t e a n t e n n a assembli es b u t r e p l a c e m e n t l oad coils
mus t be c h e c k e d a n d / o r adj u s t e d using available SWR met e r s .
