1.11 Specifications for fuel and lubricants
1.11.1 Fuel & Winter fuel
(1) Quality
Use commercial diesel fuels with a sulphur content below 0.5%.
The following fuel specifications are permitted:
 DIN EN 590
 BS 2869
 ASTM D 975-96; 1-D and 2-D
 NATO Code F 54 / F34 / F44 and XF 63
(2) Winter fuel
At low temperatures, paraffin secretions may occur that can clog the fuel system and
cause malfunctions. Under 0 °C outside temperatures (down to -20 °C), use winter
fuel (offered by petrol stations at the start of the cold season).
•Below -20 °C, petroleum is blended.
The required mixing ratios are to be made in accordance with the following graph.
•Special diesel fuels can be used for arctic climates with temperature down to -44 °C.
If the use of summer diesel fuel is necessary at 0 °C, petroleum can also be mixed up
to 60%, in accordance with the following graph. Sufficient cold resistance can also
be achieved mostly by the addition of a flow improver (fuel additive).
Ask your authorised service station.
Diesel fuels may never be mixed with petrol
(regular and premium grade petrol)!
Mix only in the tank!
First add the necessary quantity of petroleum,
then top off with diesel fuel.
