Control Specification
PFD Type
Description
Allow for the selection of the algorithm for detection of PFD.
Values
0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
Benefits
PFD type shows algorithm type, where 0 minimizes the
detection of pulsatile venous-like flow and 5 is sensitive to
pulsatility whether it is arterial-like flow or venous-like flow.
Values 1through 4 are intermediate levels between 0 and 5.
PFD Scale
Description
Raises/lowers the PFD Scale on the color bar.
Adjusting
To raise/lower the PFD scale, press PFD Scale/Wall Filter knob
until you reach PFD Scale, then adjust PFD Scale left/right.
Values
PFD Scales value is linked to PRF. Range is in kHz.
PFD Scale values are returned to the factory or user preset
value when changing the following: Probe, Exam Category,
Exam Calcs, or New Patient
Benefits
Imaging of higher velocity flow requires increased PFD Scale
values to avoid aliasing and to get the right PFD.
Affect on other
controls
Changing the PFD Scale may affect Power Output, Frame Rate,
and Wall Filter. When adjusting the PFD Scale, Cine memory is
cleared.
Bioeffects
Changing the PFD Scale may change TI and/or MI. Observe the
output display for possible effects.
PFD Map
Description
Allows for the selection of PFD Map. There are four maps: two
maps (PF-1 and PF-2) are Directional maps, two other maps
(PF-3 and PF-4) are Non-Directional maps.
Adjusting
Press
Map
and select the desired map from the menu.
Values
PF-1, PF-2, PF-3 and PF-4.
Benefits
Directional Map shows flow direction and pulsatility of the flow.
Non-Directional Map shows pulsatility and non-pulsatility of the
flow.
