Chapter 5 Blood Pressure and Pulse Wave Examinations (CAVI/ABI/TBI): Standard Mode
amplitude graph shows the pulse wave amplitude and the blood pressure value measured by the oscillometric method.
The amplitude is adjusted at recording for easy viewing.
The highest level of pulse wave amplitude obtained while measuring the blood pressure will be indicated. A pulse wave
amplitude level that is higher above the reference level indicates a more stable measurement. If it is below the reference
level, the blood pressure cannot be measured.
The Y axis scale differs between the amplitude graph and the pulse wave amplitude level.
• The shape of the pulse wave amplitude graph may be affected by R-R changes caused by pacemaker/arrhythmia or
body movement.
• It is recommended to perform the examination again if the shape of the pulse wave amplitude graph is irregular or the
pulse and blood pressure values are unreliable.
