Transmission and reception of SMS

Transmission and reception between customers
of overseas provider other than DoCoMo is pos-
sible. Please refer to DoCoMo’s “International
service web page” on the countries and over-
seas provider that provide this service.

The designation of the recipient when transmit-
ting SMS to a party that is using an overseas
provider is as shown in the table below. More-
over, in the event there are characters in the
main body of the message that are not handled
by the recipient side, such characters may not be
correctly displayed. Please refer to the interna-
tional service guides such as “International Ser-
vice Use Guide” for details.

Operation for setting the network services

When using the network service overseas, even
if such operations as commence and discontinue
are possible, care is required as there may be
limits in the content of services or certain ser-
vices may not be available. Please refer to the
international service guides such as “Interna-
tional Service Use Guide” for details.
* With the FOMA network, setting operation for all the
above network services is enabled.

When using this service overseas, please also
refer to “Network Service Operation Guide” and
“International Service Use Guide”.

The charges for use overseas will be invoiced
with the monthly charges for use. However, there
may be cases in which the invoice will be
delayed about a month due to the convenience
of the overseas provider.

When using the service overseas, call charges in
“Call data” (p.399) include both incoming and out-
going calls. However, call charges may be different
from the actual charges.

When FOMA terminal is turned on overseas at
default, the network will be automatically
searched for the accessible provider in the local
area. When the user moves outside the service
area of the provider that has been set, the FOMA
terminal will automatically perform network
search for a provider that can be used and the
setting will be updated.

Other overseas

When transmitting, input by adding
“+” and the “Country Code” to the
phone number of the recipient.
Moreover, it is also possible to
transmit by inputting “010”, “Country
Code” and “the mobile phone number
of the recipient”. (If the phone number
begins with a zero (0), omit the first
zero and enter the rest of it. To reply
to SMS received from overseas, enter
“010” to return SMS.)
