3.30.1.
Generic Airport Control
The Generic Airport Control overlay is accessed from the Environment/Visual page by selecting the
GENERIC AIRPORT CONTROL overlay button or from the Runway Lighting overlay by selecting the
GENERIC AIRPORT CONTROL overlay button. See Figure 3-40. Generic Airport Control is used to
create an airport environment for airport locations that do not have a custom visual scene. For example,
to fly from Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) to Tulsa, Ok (TUL) you would need to create a generic airport for
Tulsa. If you have to create a generic airport, do so before start of training session because the visual
updates may take from 5 to 10 minutes.
This display contains the visual options available for the generic airport scene. Only one option selection
per boundary box is allowed and selecting a different option within a boundary box deselects the previously
selected option. Also on this page are two overlay buttons; Runway Lighting and Terrain Type.
The SEND UPDATES TO VISUAL direct entry button sends the selections made on the page to the host
computer for transmission to the visual system. The characteristics chosen will appear on the visual scene.
To close the Generic Airport Control overlay, select the CANCEL direct entry button.
