8. Select
the
Name
text box. The system keyboard will open.
9. Enter a name for the new backup file. It is a good idea to incorporate the date of the backup into
the name of the backup file (for example,
backup_johndoe_103107
).
10. Select the
OK
button to close the system keyboard. A window will open to note that the backup
is in progress. Please be patient as the backup process may take several minutes.
Note:
If the external file sharing does not have enough available space to store the backup file,
a window will appear to inform you. Select the
OK
button to close the window. You must
disconnect the file sharing device and free more space on it (or use a different file sharing
device) to save the backup file. Once the file sharing device is ready, reconnect it to your M3
device and return to step 3.
11. When the backup is complete, select the
OK
button.
12. Select the
OK
button to close the
Backup/Upgrade
menu.
13. Select the
OK
button to close the
M3 Setup
menu.
Now that you have successfully completed this backup procedure, you can store the backup file on the file
sharing device or copy it to a Windows computer.
Restoring
If you have backed up your M3 device, information that is lost for any reason can be easily restored. You
may also just choose to return to an earlier version of your page set. When you restore user information to a
M3 device, all of the files that are stored in the selected backup (.
bck
) file are copied to the device. This
process will overwrite any user information that is on the M3 with the information in the backup file.
Restoring User Information
To restore information to your M3 device from a backup file, follow these steps:
Note:
Restoring will overwrite all of the user data that is currently on your device and replace it
with the user data that is stored in the selected backup file.
