AT THE END OF THE SEASON, IT IS
RECOENDED TO PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
NOTE
: Do not pressure wash the metal detector box
and/or the bearings on the Forage Harvester or
attachment (Figure 270).
1. To prevent any accumulation of dirt, soil, material,
excess of grease, or any other substance which
could absorb water and cause moisture and rust,
clean the Forage Harvester thoroughly.
2. Lubricate the entire machine and check oil levels.
3. Clean and lubricate all chains.
4. To prevent rust when paint is damaged, apply a new
coat of paint.
5. Order the necessary spare parts and repair the Forage
Harvester before beginning the new season.
6. The Forage Harvester should be stored in a dry and
clean location.
7. Remove tension of the belts.
8. Check condition of guards and safety decals. Re-
place them if necessary.
9. At the end of the season, drain the liquid incor-
poration system using antifreeze (Figure 270).
10. To prevent any accumulation of dirt, soil, material,
excess of grease, or any other substance which
could absorb water and cause moisture and rust,
clean the Corn Cracker thoroughly
11. Manually turn the cracker rolls to detect any high
speed bearing that might be contaminated by corn
juice. It is preferable to change a bearing when it
makes an abnormal noise, even slightly, than to
have a cracker roll damaged because of a failed
bearing. Keep in mind that a regular and strict in-
spection of the high speed bearings is essential.
NOTE: Never
pressure wash the cracker rolls high
speed bearings.
NOTE:
When cleaning and lubrication is complete, run
the Forage Harvester several minutes to spread
out the grease uniformly inside the bearings on
the roller chains.
