BALANCING SPRINGS - FIGURE 165 & FIGURE 166
The purpose of the Forage Harvester balancing springs
(item 1) is to counterbalance the weight of the attach-
ments. The attachment can be adjusted so it barely
touches the ground or it can be lifted in order to avoid
possible obstacles on the field.
The tension of these springs must be adjusted so that it
will suit the weight of various attachments.
This adjustment can be verified as follows: one man
should be able to easily lift the front of the attachment,
namely the equivalent of a 75 lb (33 kg) weight (ap-
proximately).
Adjust the springs by turning the screw sleeves (item 2)
with the handle (item 3).
NOTE
: A tool with a 15/16” socket can also be used for
this adjustment.
Position the spring link bar according to the attachment
(Figure 166).
