CORN CRACKER SHEAVE ALIGNMENT
FIGURE 216
1. Adjust the sheave (item 4) so that a maximum
clearance of 1/32” to 1/16” (0.8 to 1.5) is obtained
between the sheave side contour (item 9) and the
piston bolt (item 10) and/or the tip of the bolt on the
right-hand support (item 11). Tighten the sheave in
this position with a 5/8” X 4” lg hexagonal bolt (item
12), a lock washer and a hexagonal nut.
2. Align the upper sheave (item 1) and lower sheave
(item 2). Use a straight steel bar (item 3) and press
against the drive sheave (item 4) as shown.
3. Adjust the sheaves (items 1 and 2) so that they
touch the bar. The adjustment of the sheaves (items
1 and 2) is performed as per the procedure on page
120 “Corn Cracker QD Bushings”.
4. Thereafter, align as close as possible the tightening
sheave (item 6) and the idler sheave (item 7) when
pressing the steel bar (item 3) against the lower
sheave (item 2) as shown.
5. Adjust the sheaves (items 6 and 7) by removing
the shaft bolts (item 8) and by using the special flat
washers (item 5) on either side. Tighten shaft bolts
properly.
