ADJUSTMENTS - MAINTENANCE
TRANSMISSION CLUTCH LEVER POSITION
SENSOR - FIGURE 258 AND FIGURE 259
The transmission sensors (items 1 and 2) control the
actuator (item 3) that controls the shifting of the clutch
lever from the FORWARD to the NEUTRAL position
when a metal detection occurs between the feed rolls.
When a piece of metal is detected, the operator cannot
shift the transmission to FORWARD, but only to RE-
VERSE . When the metal object is removed, the metal
detector is reset along with the REVERSE position.
To adjust these sensors, proceed as follows:
NOTE
: Carry out the REVERSE, NEUTRAL and FOR-
WARD clutch lever adjustment before adjusting
the sensors. Refer to page 127.
1. Shift the transmission to the NEUTRAL position.
The shifting bracket (item 4) should have a small
backlash on both sides.
2. Loosen the four nuts (item 5) on the sensor support
(item 6).
3. Switch on metal detection system and slide the sup-
port (item 6) until the indicator light on the sensor
(item 1) is turned off
4. Tighten nuts (item 5) back, temporarily.
5. Shift transmission to REVERSE and check to see if
the indicator light on the sensor (item 2) is turned off.
The adjustment is good when the light is turned off.
6. Tighten the four nuts (item 5) on the sensor support
(item 6).
7. The sensors should be adjusted close to the rod
(item 7), but should not touching it. Use the nuts
(item 8) to adjust these sensors.
NOTE
: When adjusting the support (item 6), always keep
the rod (item 7) parallel with the cylinder (item 3)
so that the sensors adjustment (items 1 and 2)
remains constant as the cylinder moves.

NOTE
: Clean the control wire connection at the start
of the season to remove any dirt and oxidation.
Use a contact cleaner spray as shown in Figure
259. Repeat during season if required.
