ADJUSTMENTS - MAINTENANCE
CORN CRACKER INITIAL START UP
ADJUSTMENT - FIGURE 237
1. Adjust the clearance between the rolls to position 2
on the decal (2 = 2/8” = 1/4”).
2. Operate the Forage Harvester and check the condi-
tion of the silage.
3. If more than 5% of the corn grains are found undam-
aged, decrease gap between cracker rolls by a 1/6”
decal division, or half a turn of the nut.
4. Repeat the same operation (steps 2 and 3) until the
desired result is obtained.
NOTE
: The wider the gap between the cracker rolls, the
less power is required, thus increasing the use-
ful life of the mechanical components.

LIFTING THE ATTACHMENT - FIGURE 238
NOTE
: The attachments must NOT create any pres-
sure on the Forage Harvester when the lifting
hydraulic cylinder is at the end of its stroke.
If this occurs, the length of the cylinder rod (item 4) can
be adjusted by removing the clevis pin (item 2) on the
cylinder yoke (item 1).
Then, loosen the bolt (item 5) and turn the yoke until the
attachment no longer creates pressure on the machine.
Finally, tighten the bolt (item 5) and put the clevis pin
(item 2) back in its place with its cotter pin (item 3).

LIFTING ARMS - FIGURE 239
Check and lubricate the lifting arms (item 1). Make sure
they are not too tightened. To loosen or tighten the lifting
arms use bolts (item 2).
