4.6.2.3 Trumpet data
This analysis is provided for the
Flow Rate Test
only and may be optionally enabled by the
Include
trumpet data
checkbox near the top of the Summary screen (
Figure 39
). A trumpet curve analysis is
performed over a time span which can be specified by the user.
A "
trumpet curve
" (
Figure 40
) is a method of statistical analysis specified in the IEC 60601-2-24 standard
for infusion devices. The trumpet analysis attempts to illustrate the worst-case variability of the flow over
specific intervals or "observation windows" which range from 2 minutes up to 31 minutes. As the
observation window increases in duration, flow rate deviation from the overall mean is expected to
decrease. The trumpet curve illustrates this convergence visually by plotting the errors of the largest and
smallest calculated flow rates against the length of the observation window.
NOTE:
Trumpet analysis stops at the end of the specified analysis window (see
Figure 40
and
Section 4.6.4) or the test duration, whichever comes first.
