To create linkages, first make sure that all required channels are primed and are ready to run a test (see
Section 3.5 on page 18). Check the
Link channels box, select one or more channels according to the
number of pumps contained in the infusion device, then click Apply . A message in the Test Setup menu
will indicate that the link is active.
Configuring a test on a linked channel will now apply the same test settings to all channels in the link.
Before starting the test, equipment information may be optionally entered into one of the linked channels,
which will later be saved to the combined Test Record. After the initial setup, each linked channel is then
started individually, one after the other, as are the individual pumps which are connected to the vPad-IV
channels.
4.3.3 Test Configuration Menus
Test configuration menus include controls for configuring each test type. Certain features and controls are
common to all test configuration menus, as described below.
4.3.3.1 Test types
Flow Rate Test
This test measures the output of a single infusion or dose delivery. The Test
Record will include the volume delivered on completion of the test and the
average flow rate.
Piggyback / KVO
Test
This test measures the output of an infusion having two distinct deliveries, which
for a piggybacked infusion means delivery of a secondary dose followed by
delivery of a primary dose at a lower rate. The Test Record includes the volume
infused for each of the two deliveries and their respective average rates.
PCA Pump Test
This test measures the bolus output and lockout timing of a patient-controlled
analgesia (PCA) pump. Additionally, the test may optionally measure the basal
flow between bolus deliveries. The Test Record will include bolus and lockout
measurements for each delivery infused over the course of the test.
Occlusion
Pressure Test
This test measures the pressure developed by the infusion device when it pumps
into an occluded line. The Test Record will include the peak pressure observed
during the test, and the final pressure at the end of the test.
