Routing
Routing is the process of selecting the path to use to send a packet
to its destination host. This unit features both static and dynamic
routing. Dynamic routing is used if the RIP function is enabled.
Routing uses the static routing table if the RIP function is disabled.
RIP function
RIP is a protocol used by routers to exchange routing information
automatically. This setting specifies whether or not to send RIPs.
The RIP version used by this AP is RIP1. If using RIP causes
problems with the network environment, disable this function.
The factory default setting is “Disable”.
Static route
Routing uses the static routing table if the RIP function is disabled.
Specify the contents of the static routing table here. The static
routing table data consists of the following four items. The
maximum number of entries that can be registered in the table is 64.
Table 6.4.
Static Route
Destination network
Network address of destination network to which routing can be
performed.
Subnet mask
Subnet mask for destination network
Gateway
Address of gateway to destination network
Metric
Specifies the distance (the cost metric) to the destination network.
This normally indicates the number of hops.
