5. Setup Preparation
This chapter gives an overview of how to setup the AP and
describes how to access the AP settings using a web browser or
terminal.
Setup Methods
Various detailed settings for configuring a high-performance
wireless LAN can be set on the AP using either a terminal or web
browser.
The key features of each setup method are as follows.
Terminal
- Setup can be performed even from older PCs.
- The terminal or other device used for setup must be directly
connected to the AP.
- As setup operation is text-based, it is more difficult to use.
WWW browser
- Provides an easy to use graphical interface.
- Setup can be performed remotely (via a LAN or modem).
- Independent of PC platform (type of OS, etc.).
- Requires that the network IP address of the AP be the same as the
network IP address of the PC used for setup.
- Web browsers can only be used on relatively modern PCs.

As both the terminal and modem connect to the COM port on the AP,
they cannot both be used at the same time.
