In brouter mode, all wireless terminals communicate via the unit
type AP. As the AP functions as a router, the wireless LAN can be
disconnected from the wired LAN to reduce the traffic on the
respective networks.
- Advantages
(1) Because the AP functions as a router, the wireless and wired
networks can be disconnected.
(2) Broadcast packets are not passed to the wired LAN.
- Disadvantages
(1) As the roaming and IP tunneling functions cannot be used,
this mode of operation is suitable for relatively small
wireless LANs.
