NOTE:
Compaq does not support mixing Ultra ATA and SCSI hard drives in the same
system. If you are replacing a hard drive in bay 4 or 5, the device must be of the same
type. If you are replacing the Ultra ATA hard drive in bay 4 or 5 with a SCSI hard drive, you
need a SCSI device option kit and the SCSI controller option kit. The controller option kit
contains the SCSI controller and cable that supports multiple SCSI devices. See “Installing
Optional SCSI Devices” later in this chapter for more information.
NOTE:
For optimal performance, connect hard drives to the primary controller. Connect
expansion devices, such as IDE CD-ROM, tape, and diskette drives to the secondary
controller.
