To
START
the outboard engine, the control lever must
be in the NEUTRAL position. The ignition shutoff
switch clip and lanyard must be attached to the shutoff
switch. Turn the main engine key switch to the ON
position and then to the START position.
DO NOT
hold the key in the START position. The engine’s
electronic control module (ECU) will start the engine
automatically. If the outboard engine does not start,
turn the key to the OFF position and repeat the starting
process.
To
STOP
the outboard engine, turn the main engine
key switch to the ACC or OFF position. If you are
securing the engine from service, turn the main engine
key switch to the OFF position.
For additional engine control information, refer to the
engine operator’s manual in your owner’s bag.

CAUTION
Leaving the main engine key switch in the ACC
or ON position when the engine is not running
will drain the starting battery and might damage
the engine’s electrical systems.
