Boat Maintenance

Hull Identification Number

The Hull Identification Number (HIN) is located on the starboard outboard side of the transom.

This is the most important form of boat identification and it must be included in all correspon-

dence related to your boat.

The engine and electronics model and serial numbers are also important when obtaining parts

or service for these items. Record all significant numbers for HIN, keys, engines, capital equip-

ment, and electronics on the pages provided at the end of this section. Keep a copy of that

record somewhere safe on shore.
