5.7.1.2 Removing the Batteries
5.7.1.3 Charging Batteries in the Driving Unit
To charge the batteries, insert them into the battery mounts. Two batteries can be
charged at the same time. The charging process begins as soon as the power supply
unit is connected. The charging process is shown on the display of the driving unit and
on the batteries. Charging the batteries does not affect blood pump operation.
5.7.1.4 Charging Batteries in the Battery Charging Unit
See section 5.8: Battery Charging Unit, page 59.
5.7.1.5 Charging Replacement Batteries
Batteries discharge even when not in use. Every two weeks, replace the batteries be-
ing used in the driving unit with the replacement batteries.
5.7.1.6 Charging Time
Batteries charge most quickly at room temperature. Cold batteries will not charge. Bat-
teries may be cold as a result of having been transported at temperatures below 0°C
or brought along during mobile operation. Allow the batteries to acclimatize. Charging
is possible at a battery temperature of at least 5°C.
Charging time is not affected by whether one battery or two is being charged in the
driving unit or the battery charging unit.
