8.6.4
Setting Rate and Synchronization
Only use rates below 60 bpm during implantation, explantation and
weaning. Do not set rates below 60 bpm on a long-term basis. When
using rates below 60 bpm, monitor blood pump filling and emptying,
and conduct visual checks for deposits and thrombi. At rates below
50 bpm, the driving unit cannot reliably detect losses of pressure, and
may delay emitting alarms.
5.
To stop the blood pumps, the
S
TART
/ S
TOP
button must be
pressed once again. Press the corresponding button to stop
the blood pumps. Only both blood pumps or the right blood
pump can be paused.
The blood pumps can be restarted with
S
TEP
or
A
UTO
.
6.
The start of the pumps is thus concluded. The parameters
must be adjusted subsequently. Check that the blood pumps
are filling and emptying completely.
7.
Continue with chapter 8.6.4: Setting Rate and Synchroniza-
tion, page 104.
1.
The default setting for the
Rate
is 20 bpm. The blood pump
starts with this rate. For regular operation, a value greater than
60 bpm must be selected. To change the rate, press the
R
ATE
button.
2.
Adjust the rate value. Accept the value.
3.
BVAD: In Synchronous mode and Asynchronous mode, the left
and right blood pumps always operate with the same rate. If
the rate for a blood pump is adjusted, the rate for the other
blood pump will be automatically changed.
Differing rates are only possible in
Separate
mode. It is never
possible to select a higher rate for the right blood pump than
for the left blood pump. If the rate for the right blood pump is
increased, the value for the left blood pump will be automati-
cally adjusted. For further information regarding synchroniza-
tion, see Tab. 7-4 , page 82.
4.
To change the synchronization, press the
S
YNCHRONIZATION
button.
5.
Select the type of synchronization and accept the value.
6.
After every rate change, the filling and emptying of the blood
pump must be checked and adjusted if required. Continue with
chapter 8.6.5: Optimizing the Filling and Emptying of the Blood
Pumps, page 105.
7.
After each change in rate, check the
Flow alarm threshold
and change the settings if necessary.
