WARNING
If the
Shutdown
symbol appears but power supply is not interrupted, the driving unit
will continue running.
The driving unit cannot only be switched off by disconnecting the mains and removing
both batteries. If the driving unit’s power supply is interrupted, the emergency battery
will power the driving unit.
Avoid operating the device in emergency battery mode or discharging the emergency
battery. If the driving unit is running on an emergency battery, reconnect the driving
unit to a power supply and repeat the shutdown procedure.
5.7
Power Supply
The driving unit can be operated using mains or battery power. Battery operation al-
lows for mobile use of the driving unit.
Power supply components:
If mains and battery operation are both unavailable, the emergency battery will supply
power.
A secure power supply is fundamental to uninterrupted operation. Select locations and
plan mobile use such that power supply is guaranteed at all times. Keep in mind that
mains power, batteries, or the power supply unit could potentially fail.
Arrange all EXCOR Active components with mains connections such that they are
easy to disconnect from mains power. To disconnect components from the mains, pull
the mains plug on the power supply unit.
If mains power fails, an alternative source of power must be made avail-
able within the battery operating time. This power supply source must
be capable of ensuring continued driving unit operation.
In the event that a power supply unit fails, the second power supply unit
must be made available within the operating time of the current battery.
Charge the replacement driving unit's emergency battery once a
month!
If a power supply is not available, the driving unit will stop.
5.7.1

Never disconnect both batteries from the driving unit at the same time
when the driving unit is being used with a patient. Disconnecting both
