18.3.3 Cleaning Intervals
Contact areas and functional areas
Contact areas and functional areas on components are areas that may come into di-
rect contact with skin or wounds, or areas that are often touched during operation. The
flow sensor, handles, buttons, keys, plugs, etc. are all areas of frequent contact. They
must be cleaned and disinfected at the intervals specified in Table Tab. 18-5 ,
page 175. They must also be cleaned and disinfected if they have visible contamina-
tion, and whenever they are moved to a different patient.
Periphery
The periphery comprises areas that rarely or never come into direct contact with the
patient, such as the enclosure, the s, or the frame of the caddy. These areas must be
cleaned and disinfected in the event of visible contamination or whenever they are
moved to a different patient.

Moisten a cloth with water and wipe down all exterior surfaces. If
necessary, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaning agent. Larger particles
can first be removed using a soft brush.

If using cleaning agents: Wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth
to remove any residue. Dry surfaces with a cloth.
